Thanks for visiting...
Sunday, November 20th, was the annual Somerset Signal Senders Turkey Fly. Each year we gather in November to celebrate Thanksgiving with a bunch of flying and a bowl of turkey chili. This year was no exception. We had 16 pilots and almost as many spectators that created a group of around 30 people. The weather was great, but the wind sucked. You can see in some of the pictures the wind sock is completely extended. The wind speed was anywhere between 10 and 20 mph but did that stop us? Hell no!

We had some interesting events. Jack brought out his edition of a "U can do". It had the feathers of the "U can do" and the body of a sig Fazer (profile). I named it "Will it Fly?" Well if you look at the pictures it not only flew but it flew well. Congrats to Jack for his creation. Others were not as lucky, including yours truly. Dave Szabo managed to turn his Predator into a stealth wing fighter by losing his tail feathers. Don't worry Dave Jim has lots of extra foam! He gave me some after he cut off my tail in no-contact combat! I also performed a "dumb thumbs" move on my cool F86 Saber jet when it zigged and I zagged. Split it wide open, say ahhh!
We had some cool flights including Tim dropping his small gliders from his slow flyer and on another flight he dropped robots on parachutes. The first try on the parachutes didn't work out so well and all the robots were crushed because the chutes didn't open but the second try was better. Jim Vigani saved one from the mud!
Chris DeBlass had a cool 4 bladed helicopter like thing with a camera. He took pictures of the field from around 200 feet high. Very interesting!
Now let's get to the great meal. Dave Rollino and his family made the best chili. Everyone had at least one bowl and some went back for seconds. There are some pictures of the gang enjoying the chili. Thanks again Dave for the meal.
Well, sad but true, this is pretty much the end of the flying season. We probably will get a few more good days but not many. Ok all you modelers, time is here to replenish your airplane supply. I am in the process of fixing my F86 and will have it out again soon. I expect all of you to have a bunch of models for the Model Expo in April. And don't forget the FREEZE FLY January 1st.
